Coventry Victor
Coventry Victor-(137 – 139) Cox Street, Hillfields, Coventry.
A BRIEF HISTORY
Coventry Victor began manufacturing motor cycle engines from around 1911, the Cox Street works (now centro bus maintenance garage) concentrated on manufacturing Coventry Victor flat-twin engines for use in other manufacturers motor cycles and in fact one of the earliest powred aeroplanes to fly in the UK used a Coventry Victor engine. Later Coventry Victor made a variety of own design motor cycles produced between 1919-36, including the dirt track/speedway bike. Coventry Victor built a number of three-wheeler cars that were easily the match for the contemporary Morgan and BSA of the period. Car production at Coventry Victor continued until the late 1930’s.
